Almost time to go

US Players standing to have picture taken with a Taiwanese Welcoming Committee. That is so nice. I understand that when they got off the plane there were reporters everywhere and cameras going off. The buses had police escorts. Goodness...

Well on Wednesday Lee and I will be leaving for Taiwan. I am anxious to get over there and see the girls and guys and know that they are doing okay. They have been training very hard according to Anna - I can't imagin the Humidity that they are playing in. It is hot here so from what I'm understanding the humidity is what is so hard.... (Her Blog .... http://www.anna-taiwan-deaflympics.blogspot.com/ ). It is fun to read what she has to say and to see her side of what I can only imagin is going on. Her adventure just getting to Taiwan was so much fun to read.... Let's just say I'm not looking forward to the long Airplane Ride.... If I can figure out how to work the camera I will download some pictures as I take them to help you follow along visually as well. the pictures that I have been putting up are from the website http://www.usdeaflypmics.org/ Go and enjoy the articles -- they are very good.

Until I get there I will probably sign off.... But than you never know..... I may surprise you with one more journaling... :o)

Oh more pictures for you to see.... again I got them from Articles from http://www.usdeaflympics.org/
US Deaflympic Headrests on the plane coming over to Taiwan..... Very cool if I do say so myself.

THEY ARE IN TAIWAN......

Just so that you all know...... They are THERE. They literally just landed. They are going to get their luggage and than onto the next leg which is a 3 hour bus ride to the city outside Taipei. They will go to the hotel and I'm sure have lunch and dinner and REST. But Anna texted me and they are there. I am so very thankful for that --- now I can SLEEP. :o)
Until I post again..... GO USA.

Heading for Taiwan

Well after being up at 4:30am to get the text that they were on their way --- I am just awaiting the text at around 6:30pm to let me know they have arrived. Thought you would be interested in reading an article regarding their time in LAX waiting for their departure. So very exciting... Please enjoy the article. DON'T THEY LOOK AMAZING IN THEIR WARM UPS.... So very proud of them.. Far left is Angel , than Diana Uihlein (center), Not sure who the top of that head is next to Diana, Shaq McDonough (far right). So awesome that the Soccer Teams are well represented. The top right picture is Shaq, Heff and Toby..... How awesome...

Airport - 4:30am. That is Early

Well at 3:30am the alarm went off to get ready to take Anna to the Airport. OMG -- that is early, but what is worse is that I couldn't sleep so I didn't even go to sleep till 1:00am. We met Mike at the airport and they checked in -- Mike's Dad took a few pictures and they were gone into the abyss that we are not allowed to go. I can hear them now, "can you believe those two..." Oh well they are off and on their way to Taiwan. How exciting is this... it is hard knowing that she is so far away but as she says "Oh MOM it's fine....".

Now to focus on my packing list.... but first I think I will take a nap.... I am pooped..

Okay so this is Lee and I last year at a Christmas Party. It's the best I can do for now. I am so very new at this Blogging thing - but thought I would give it a try. Sounds like fun and I'll try not to tell the whole world all my secrets and stuff that will embarrass myself & others. Of course no promises.

The main reason I am doing this Blog is so that I can try to keep my family and friends up to date on our trip to Taiwan with our youngest daughter.

She wishes so that her older brother and sister and Brother in law could have come on this amazing trip. A once in a lifetime event actually. But unfortunately to much time was involved in taking time off. Anna was named to be on the US National Deaf Women's Soccer Team. They are playing in the 2009 Deaflympics in Tapei Taiwan Sept. 5 - 16, 2009. Anna leaves on Wednesday and will be flying with two other Team mates. One from her Women's Team and the other from the Men's US Team. When they arrive in Taipei - they will travel to a city called Chiayi (2.5 hours drive south of Taipei). The Team will train there and than travel back to Taipei for the games.
The Men's Soccer Team has their first game on Sept. 4 at 9:30am. (Meaning Sept 3 at 9:30 PM in the USA) The first game for the Women is September 5 at 9:30am. (Meaning Sept 4 at 9:30 PM in USA) Second game is Sept 7 at 9:30am (Meaning Sept 6 at 9:30 PM in USA) and the Third game on Sept. 9 was canceled due to the Team withdrawing. The next games will all depend on the results of the first and second games. You will have to go to the information website - see below - to find out the dates and times. I of course will also update this blog to let you know as well. (Remember that Taiwan is 12 hours ahead --- so plan accordingly.)
You can go to the following website to watch the games: http://www.deaflympics.tv/ and to find out other information regarding the games http://www.2009deaflympics.org/ and than go to the left side and click game schedules and look for women's futbol.
Anna also has a blog http://anna-taiwan-deaflympics.blogspot.com/ ---this will be a great place for you to go to get her perspective of what is going on. I can't wait to read it and see her feelings on everything. So exciting.

Okay so this is the Women's Team. This was at a training camp back in January 09 in Pensacola, Florida. Anyway just a look at who is going to Taiwan and oh so exciting. The man on the Right is Coach Ken McDonald and he is amazing.... He was the Asst. Coach on the Women's Team in 2005 when they won the GOLD. Very good man.... some of the players are not still with us and some others we have added. But overall this is the Team that will be leaving on August 26th.

Please pray for each and everyone of them for safe travels and good health and strong bodies.
Okay I will sign off now.... but please keep a watch out for us. We will be the ones in the stands acting like fools and being "OH SO PROUD of the USA".
Love to all back in the States...
